As I sit here writing what will be my last submission for a newsletter as President, I want to start by saying what an honor it has been to work with and for all of you over the past three years.   The first year in the position was somewhat tumultuous as we were just coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the demands of the position and the field of mental health had changed.  We were all feeling tired, burnt out, and exhausted – as evidenced by the fact that 81 directors left the profession – just shy of 10% of our organization - more than half going into private practice.  With new telehealth rules, it was understandable. 

To “Reply All” or “Backchannel”, that is the question.

Hello Fellow AUCCCD Colleagues,

As you may have heard, the AUCCCD Board is developing a conflict of interest policy, borne from the growth of our association and the vendor industry surrounding our work - not to mention, it is an ethical best practice for all association boards.  I wanted to take this opportunity to provide some insight into our process and also answer some questions that have come in during the comment period.

Greetings from the Membership Committee!  Do you know any Directors who haven’t yet joined AUCCCD but are curious?  We are pleased to announce two new programs for potential new members.  

One of the greatest membership benefits of AUCCCD is free access to the Journal of College Student Mental Health, formerly the Journal of College Student Psychotherapy. The name was recently changed to better reflect mental health work on university and college campuses. We are currently working on publishing a Special Edition focused on The Future of College Student Mental Health. We hope you will read it to gain insight, generate additional ideas, and be inspired to publish your own article in the Journal. You can access the Journal on the AUCCCD website under the Resources tab.
